Immune System

Your immune system plays a critical role in keeping you alive. You start developing natural immunity while you are still in your mother’s womb and keep developing it throughout life. Chiropractic is one of the best tools for maximizing your immune system. Many research studies have determined that children with regular chiropractic treatment have fewer doctor’s visits and rarely have to take antibiotics.

In clinical trials monitored by the Rand Corporation and conducted at Life University, chiropractic showed great potential to boost immune function. Several other preliminary studies have also shown immune system boosting. In 1991 Patricia Brennan, PhD, conducted a study that demonstrated an increased immune function following a thoracic (mid back) adjustment. Dr. Pero stated in his research that “Chiropractic patients in the study had 200 percent greater immune competence than people who had not received chiropractic, and 400 percent greater immune competence than people with cancer or other serious disease.”

The article also notes that chiropractic can also help with secondary symptoms associated with HIV/AIDS. Secondary symptoms are usually the main reason HIV/AIDS patients seek chiropractic in the first place. According to the article, Craig Martin, DC, notes that eighty percent of HIV/AIDS patients report some degree of neuropathy, which includes symptoms such as numbness, tingling and/or burning, With chiropractic care these patients reported a significant decrease in symptoms. Patrece Frisbee, DC, of Stratogen Health of Miami Beach, a multidisciplinary clinic, reports 80% of her patients are HIV positive, “and they need extensive chiropractic care because of the wide array of side effects that accompany the powerful prescribed medications.”

The article closes with a powerful chiropractic endorsement, concluding, “Chiropractic is an alternative that will work with HIV/AIDS patients. It has broadened the view of chiropractic as a mind/body therapy. Its role in healthcare is increasing every day. If you aren’t under chiropractic, then you are not allowing your body to perform at 100 percent.”

In another research study, blood was taken from each of the participants 15 minutes before and 15 minutes after the adjustment. The results were compared to 15 other participants who received a placebo adjustment. The immune response from subjects who received the real adjustment was significantly higher than before treatment, and significantly higher than the response from the placebo subjects.

Menstrual Health

Many women who have suffered from a wide variety of pain, pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS), bladder problems, bowel cramps, and sexual dysfunctions have discovered the natural benefits of chiropractic. The spine protects the nerve bundle that controls the reproductive and endocrine (hormonal) systems. If there is subluxation (nerve interference) affecting the relationship between the spine and nerve bundle, this may impact the function of the organs. Chiropractors remove nerve interference which restores the optimal function to the reproductive system.

A 27-year-old female sought chiropactic care to improve her overall health, in the hope that she may ultimately be able to have a child. In the previous year she had suffered two miscarriages, and had not ovulated for nine months. She was under medical treatment for infertility and ulcerative colitis, and followed a restrictive diet. Prior to attempting to become pregnant, she had been using birth control pills for 7 years. Examination protocols of Torque Release Technique (TRT) were utilized to detect vertebral subluxations. Adjustments were applied with the Integrator instrument; the initial visit schedule was twice weekly for 30 days, and then one visit per week for an additional 30 days. After 60 days of care, a normal ovulatory cycle occurred, and she became pregnant after her second normal cycle.

One study compared 25 women who suffered from PMS. This study estimated that between 10 and 20% of reproductive-aged women have severe symptoms associated with this condition. The study included chiropractic adjustments for a ten-day period prior to the beginning of each patient’s cycle. The women were asked to monitor their symptoms and rate the severity on a scale of 0 (none) to 3 (severe). The results showed a reduction in symptoms ranging between 42% and 32% for the group that received chiropractic for only a short time. These findings encourage the researchers, who conclude, “results support the hypothesis that the symptoms associated with PMS can be reduced by chiropractic.

Could you be wasting money on all the healthy organic food you are eating?

I want to start off by saying I cannot tell you how many people I have met that lead very healthy lives for the most part and just don’t understand why they still get sick or are still in pain. There are 5 pillars of health…the average person does about 2 of them and most healthy people do about 3-4 of them. Now I want to ask you a question. If you are doing 4 out of 5 of them that is 80% health. I don’t know about you but I want the full 100%. Your health is nothing to mess around with and is by far your greatest asset in life. Some people think their cable and internet bill is more important and we send those people to the Chiropractor down the street who also believes that (be careful who you trust your health with). Practice members at Apex Chiropractic understand where true health comes from and have their priorities straight so we are all on the same page.

The 5 Pillars of Health:

Exercise
Depending on your age you should be getting at least 20 minutes of cardio exercise 5 days a week. I am not saying you need to get out there and do cross-fit 8 days a week. Humans have 2 feet and we were meant to walk. If you want to start by walking 20 minutes a day that is wonderful and a great place to start!

Sleep
Get 7-8 hours of sleep every night. You should be sleeping on your back or on your side with a pillow in between your knees and a pillow that keeps your head level with your spine. No stomach sleeping!

Proper Mental Attitude
I cannot stress the importance of this one enough. Negative attitudes and a negative outlook on life are literally killing people. You need to do your best to keep a positive outlook on life on a day to day basis. Yes, stuff happens and it is OK to get sad, depressed or have anxiety in certain situations. These feelings are normal and good to have every now and then but overall you need to keep a happy outlook on life. Let me give you an example. Two 12 year old boys are diagnosed with a life threatening cancer. The doctor tells them they have two weeks to live. One of the boys get very sad and discouraged and dies in two weeks. The other boy says I am way too young for this and there is no way I am going to let this cancer beat me. He rises above it and is still living to this day cancer free. The only difference was their mental attitude on the situation.

Eating Healthy
I am not going to get into what you should or shouldn’t eat because most people have a good idea of that already and if you need help in this area there are millions of trained professionals out there. One question I do want to ask you is if the nerves going to your stomach and intestines are not working the correct way how do you think you might be digesting your food? Maybe you are taking top of the line supplements and buying all natural organic food from Whole Foods or Alfalfa’s. What if you are wasting your money because your body is not capable of absorbing the nutrients the right way do to an improperly functioning nervous system? Think about it…

100% Functioning Nervous System
This is the pillar that even most healthy people are lacking. Less than 3% of the people in this world are under Principled Chiropractic care. The brain and the nervous system control and coordinate all organs, structures and functions of the human body. It doesn’t matter how well you eat or how much you exercise, if your nervous system has any type of interference your body will not be functioning at 100%.

If the nerves going to you or your child’s heart or lungs were not working properly when would you want to find out?

Healthy Pregnancies Lead to Healthy Children

Your Body, Your Baby

Chiropractic care is an essential part of pregnancy, along with proper diet, exercise and sleep. One of the best things you can do if you are pregnant is visit a chiropractor that specializes in pediatrics and pregnancy and utilizes a low force technique like the Torque Release Technique, which is safe for you and your child.

What will the chiropractor do?

It is essential that a future mother has her body as strong and healthy as possible to ensure good function of her reproductive organs. The slightest amount of pressure leading to nerve interference can cause these systems not to work right leading to adverse effects to the mother and her developing baby. A scientifically based chiropractor will use state of the art technology to find these interferences and correct them with a gentle specific scientific adjustment.

A few of the many benefits or regular chiropractic:

  • 60% shorter labor time (all moms love this one!)
  • Over 50% less medications that may cause adverse side effects
  • Postpartum depression is uncommon in women receiving regular adjustments
  • Tremendous success with infertility cases and women having a hard time getting pregnant
  • Decrease the amount of pregnancy induced low back pain by up to 70%

What about after I have the baby?

Sometimes an infant’s spine can be harmed at birth! This is a very traumatic process so it is crucial for the mom and child to get checked for nerve interference as soon as they can after the child is born. Even if you had a “natural easy birth” wouldn’t you want to have you baby checked so ensure they grow up healthy and happy they way they were meant to?
